Injured Mama Horse Can’t Get Up, Baby Horse Refuses to Leave Her Side

Wild animals live a wonderful life, free to roam where they want their hearts, without fences or cages to keep them inside, just as nature wanted. They don't even need to get in touch with a human being if they want to, but sometimes they can be grateful that we're close. Some insensitive people may call this wild mare and her baby "animals only," but not us. This wild mare and her foal are grateful that not all humans are bad people when the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals arrived to help them in their situation. The UK-based charity has been at the forefront of animal rescue and welfare since 1924, and here they are in action in Wales, helping this mare recover. It is not clear how their situation developed or how long they have remained that way. It may seem a deceptively simple problem, but one of the mare's hooves had been trapped in his mane and the poor horse had no way of standing, while his beautiful foal was becoming increasingly distressed in the process. There is a possibility that they have been like this for hours and even days. If they remained in those conditions, their survival was in danger, but fortunately someone had warned the professionals and the RSPCA arrived on the scene. Wild horses can be potentially dangerous animals and it is known that having little contact with humans is defensive. The foal does not leave his mother everywhere, but clearly he is not happy with the situation, he runs in circles and shows his frustration. He didn't have to worry, since this team always had his mother's safety in mind. They manage to free the hull from the hind leg caught in the mane of the mare by cutting some of its rebel curls, but it still takes a bit to get up. The muscles of the hind legs could have died easily while they remained in that position for a long time, but she continues trying and eventually manages to get on all fours.
